2. Kills Fleas: Nexgard and Bravecto are potent chewable that effectively kill fleas and at the same time, provide flea re-infestation for weeks.

3. Kills Ticks: These two chewable are also highly effective in eliminating ticks and providing protection from the same for weeks as well.

Bravecto vs. Nexgard: The Key Differences

Both Bravecto and Nexgard Chewable are wonderful flea and tick oral treatments, but they do have significant differences. Let us take a look at them.

1. Active Ingredient: The active ingredient present in Bravecto is called Fluralaner, while the one present in Nexgard is known as Afoxolaner.

2. Age Suitability: There is quite a big difference in the age suitability of both products. While Bravecto is safe for puppies above 6 months, Nexgard’s is as low as 6 weeks and over.

3. Dosage Pattern: Bravecto and Nexgard are both given as single doses, but the time gap between the first and next dosage is different. The dosage pattern of Bravecto is once every 3 months, whereas in the case of Nexgard it is to be given on a monthly basis.

4. Manufacturer: Bravecto comes straight from the house of Merck, whereas Nexgard is manufactured by Merial/ Boehringer Ingelheim.

5. Price: They both kill fleas and ticks, but are priced slightly differently. On CanadaPetCare, Bravecto is priced at $32.6 whereas Nexgard is fixed at $32.79.

6. Safety: While Both Bravecto and Nexgard are safe for dogs and puppies (to a certain age limit), the same cannot be said with regards to pregnant, breeding, and lactating dogs. In Bravecto’s case, they’re safe for pregnant, breeding, and lactating dogs, but safety has not been evaluated in Nexgard yet.

7. Taste: Bravecto chews are simply tasty chews whereas Nexgard chewables are beef-flavored and are much more palatable.

8. Working Time: Once administered, Bravecto chews begin killing fleas in just two hours. On the other hand, Nexgard eliminates all existing fleas within 24 hours.

After thoroughly reviewing both products, it is fair to say that both are equally good in their own way. Both have their pros and cons, and though Bravecto just edges out Nexgard, it’s best to seek your vet’s advice before you make the purchase.
